Maricopa County New Home Builders Still Confident

Greater Phoenix new home builders have increased permits and lowered sales.
New home permits in greater Phoenix are up from 3,630 in February to 3,737 in March but down only 21% from last year. That is the latest from the Phoenix Housing Letter from RL Brown.  This is quite surprising considering the oversupply of 22,000 homes in the valley.  Also 10,369 new Phoenix Valley homes wee sold in the first quarter of 2007 compared to 12,536 in the first quarter of 2006.  Looks as though builders may go through their inventory quicker than most anticipated, but there may be some hard times ahead.
