Trail 100 in the Phoenix Mountains

Hiking trail in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve in Central Phoenix

Trail 100 aka. Charles M. Christiansen Memorial Trail is one of the longest trails in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve which is located in the middle of the Phoenix Valley.  It leads from Mountain View Park at 7th Ave. and Cheryl Dr. and ends 10.7 miles further at Tatum Boulevard in Paradise Valley.

Along the way you will hike along several neighborhoods like Christy Cove, The Preserve, and others.  The route will take you South East past the Pointe at 7th St. (through a tunnel) then toward the I-51 freeway under which there is a tunnel to get across by foot or by bike.  From here you will be able to see the peak of Camelback Mountain.  Once past the freeway you will be at the Dreamy Draw Recreation Area, this is also a good place to start the hike if you just want to take it from here.  Dreamy Draw is the heart of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve.  This is a beautiful area to live in as well.  See homes in the Dreamy Draw area.

From here you will continue East toward Piestewa Peak.  The trail ends at Tatum Boulevard in Paradise Valley

T100 is a "hidden gem" right in the middle of the city

Phoenix Mountains in Phoenix, AZ

T100 is an excellent trail itself, but then when you add all of the offshoots to T100, the network of trails in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve is immensely vast.  I've been in the area many times with new residents to the Valley that freely admit how cool it is to ahve this great network of trails right smack dab in the middle of the city.

For hiking, biking, and even equestrian riding, right in the center of a major urban city, it's very, very hard to beat T100.

Dogs love the Phoenix Mountains as well.

Steve,

You're absolutely right.  The offshoots are great.  It's quite amazing to have a park like the Phoenix Mountain right in the middle of Phoenix metro.  My dogs love going on the trails and often they take me along.  I have not made it to the top of Piestewa Peak, though.
