The Polish community in Greater Phoenix is growing, quickly!
More
people in the Polish community in the USA, especially on the East coast are finding out that Phoenix is more then "malls and weeds", are moving to Phoenix
looking for a new life; just like all the other people moving here.
It's the weather, the affordable homes and promise of jobs that's brining in people; the growth of the Polish community itself is fueling the migration. There is no Polish
neighborhood in Phoenix as most people try to live close to where they
work but there seems to be one forming slowly in certain parts of the valley. This influx of Polish speaking and Polish rooted residents is part of what's adding to a new Phoenix, one diverse in its residents and rich in choice of entertainment and culture. There has been a large expansion in Polish delis, bakeries and restaurants on top of all the Polish owned businesses springing up or expanding. There are bakeries and delis in almost every area of the city. You can see some of them at the English version AZPolonia.com a Polish community website. The Polish community organizes several events each year. These are picnics at a park in Scottsdale also near the town of Payson, where hundreds of
Poles come to spend time together. There is also a Polish cultural festival at the Polish Church. Often, there are discos at Pulaski club, a club in existence since the 40's plus other events which are growing in number each year. The Phoenix Polonia is growing. There is now a bigger Polish church in Glendale which replace a small one at 16th st and Maryland a few years ago. Plus Polish clubs, and radio programs and tv program are all available. In addition,
Phoenix is more often visited by Polish artists like Krzysztof Zanussi who attended the 5th Annual Mesa Community Film Festival, as well as other singers painters, and performance artists. This is only the start of the Polish community in Phoenix. Its getting bigger and better each year. And because the cultural diversity of Phoenix is growing and expanding all the residents will benefit from expanding "culinary" opportunities.
