Chocolate Paradise in Central Phoenix |
|
This last week we finally got a chance, or made the effort, to visit Chatham's Fine Chocolates a place I drive by often and each time want to stop by but for lack of initiative or time just pass along with so many other places that are in Central Phoenix with really good food. I didn't know what to expect walking into the store and I was surprised at the stark white walls and large open space: for the amount of chocolate the space is very large as if an art gallery. After scoping out the layout we dove into exploring the store. In the back was a wall of hundreds of truffles. The selection is immense and includes flavors such as rose petal, Turkish coffee, bourbon pecan, Carmel walnut and a truffle made with "holy water" amongst a hundred others; to the right an exquisite selection of chocolate bars from some of the most famed producers and to the left some sauces, cocoa and hot chocolate mix. We met Chatham Kitz, the owner with Jennie, who was very helpful with our exploration guiding us through the tastes and nuances of each chocolate bar. Without his help it would be difficult to choose, just as if going to a well stocked gourmet cheese store one could easily have a hard time choosing where to start.

We came away with a perfect selection of truffles as a birthday gift and 5 chocolate bars, all of which were gone the next day enjoyed with perfect pleasure. My next trip will take just as long but with a different selection, one which will allow us to keep exploring the varying chocolate tastes from around the world. It's a true pleasure to work with someone who knows their stuff, whether it's chocolate, wine or real estate and Chatham knows chocolate. "Our story is pretty simple and quite common in the world of business; we were frustrated chocoholics and we kept saying someone aught to create a store that is “A Celebrates of Great Chocolatiers” from around the world. That is exactly what we did."
Chatham's Fine Chocolates in located in North Central Phoenix just south of the Medlock Place neighborhood at 114 W. Camelback Rd. on the North side. This is another good reason to live near the light rail. |
