Riding along Lafayette Blvd. in Arcadia its easy to miss the entrance to an almost enchanting neighborhood that has been there since 1953. The entrance to Mount Grove is inconspicuous, designated only by a small low wall indicating a name. Even the entry street does not reveal any clues and one of the only Condos complexes in Arcadia masks it from Lafayette Blvd.
Mount Grove is a small subdivision of 28 lots. It really seems like move when you drive it but the lots are pretty large. Homes were build here between 1954 to 1965 but most have been upgraded and or rebuilt.
All homes are single story ranch style. This was the prevailing style in the 50's and 60's and it looks good today, especially if the homes are well maintained like in this subdivision.
The photo above is a front yard of a corner house. Can you see yourself there with a cool Heffewizen with a lemon and a good business magazine like Portfolio. The view is actually pretty good. You may have noticed the palms. These are date palms which are the characteristic of this neighborhood which run along all streets. You can't miss them. They create a very unique feel and throw a light shadow across the landscape. It's a very interesting place.
