Marion Estates in East Phoenix: About & Homes For Sale
September 11, 2008
Architecturally unique mid-century modern Phoenix neighborhood.
|
In the 50' and 60's the architectural trend
was modern functional architecture with little ornamentation and lots
of angles and natural light. This was the perfect architecture for the
expanding Phoenix city.
Marion Estates is a neighborhood which has structures designed by many of the prominent modernist architects of that time in the valley: Alfred Beadle, Blain Drake and Ralph Haver were the major architects who's homes have withstood the test of time and are in fact becoming the in demand style.
Marion Estates is located between 40th and 44th Streets and Stanford Dr in on the South and McDonald in the North. On the east looms the ever beautiful Camelback Mountain with Paradise Valley to the north, Arcadia to the east and the Biltmore to the west. This subdivision is perfectly located.
Marion Estates Homes For Sale (full details)
Marion is great not only for its Mid Century Modern architecture but it is desert living at its truest and that condition has remained to this day. The homes meld well into the desert: they don't intrude or feel out of place. You won't see grassy yards nor any pine trees: this is a desert and this neighborhood is full of native natural plants shielding the homes from the streets and providing privacy.
There are a few homes which have been updated and the original character destroyed but most homes still preserve that modern feel while being perfectly attune to contemporary living.
