| November 05, 2008 | | Sonora Brewhouse and Brewer's Den in Central Phonenix is a fine place to have a very good pint. | If you ever watched Inspector Morse
you know he loved beer just as much as cross word puzzles. In that
series it's those pubs, drink terrace gardens in the lush English
cities with the appropriate weather that pulled me in: its people just
enjoying a pint of good beer outside.
There are quite a few brew
houses in the Phoenix area but you can't sit in a terrace like
environment in all of them and some are just to posh or too large even
though the beer is good. But, none have the small pub feel and even
fewer have an exterior terrace.
In Central Phoenix there is a
small brewhouse: Sonara Brewhouse and Brewer's Den: it has a small
patio area in between the two buildings - the main restaurant and the
brewer's den - where one can get at least a gimps of having a stout
outside. There's even an oleander in the back. What it lacks in flora
it makes up in the good feeling it has and the attractive mural, plus
the beer it quite good. If you hurry - its seasonal- you can get a
cask stout: it's, indeed, very good and the onion rings are spectacular.
