West Nile Virus

Summer is Near and so are the Mosquitos - what to do about them

The Valley of the Sun is also the Valley of Mosquitos, at lease when it gets warm like it's getting now and especially, as we get closer to the Monsoon with its hot humid sticky weather and rain showers that leave pools of stale water, the perfect places for thousands of mosquitos to breed.

Arizona does not seem like the place where mosquitoes would present, it's hot and dry.  But they are, here.  I have been the victim of several bites since late April.  Their usual sting is bad enough but now we have to worry about the West Nile Virus.  The Cities of Greater Phoenix and Maricopa County have prepared information on how to deal with Mosquitos.

They can spread rather quickly and any still water, even in bucket or unused plant pot with water, will be perfect to lay their larva.  Test have confirmed West Nile Virus in some mosquitos.

Look at the links below for information on breeding prevention, green pools, harboring mosquitos and West Nile Virus and its symptoms.
