| August 30, 2007 | | For 50 years the Arizona Humane Society has been rescuing unwanted animals. | Last year the Society saved more than 50,000 sick, injured, unwanted and stray animals. More than half of these animals were reunited with their owners. On August 4th the group held its annual Pet Telethon, this was its ninth year hosting the event and it raised over $566,000. The backbone of the Humane Society is the strength and determination of its volunteers, medical technicians and generous donors. The humane Society also organizes occasional free or discounted spay and neuter services. Adoptable animals are available at the Nina Mason Puliman Campus for Compassion, Sunnyslope Facility and the East Valley Adoption Center. The Society's philosophy is "to build a healthy relationship between people and animals and our goal is to find appropriate, responsible and loving homes for the many pets in our care." The Arizona Humane Society places 100% of the healthy dogs and cats into new homes and thousands more pets are successfully rehabilitates.
