This year's Sports Explosion is a free event that takes place on Saturay Sept. 29 from 8am to noon at Paradise Valley Park. Mayor Phil Gordon will kick off the festivities with his "Phoenix Day of Play" proclamation. He will be joined by a line up of famous athletes who will be participating in fun an dinteractive workshops and demonstrations. The atletes will include: Mark West a former member of the Phoenix Suns, Janet Anderson the winner of the US Women's Open in 1982, Kim Hayashi #1 National Girl Pro BMX Biker, Seth Joyner alinebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles and many others. Radio Disney's Move It! will also be performing on stage to get everybody dancing. There will be over 40 booths dedicated to sports and fitness offering demonstrations as well as information on how to persue a healthier lifestyle. There will be games, activites, and lots of prizes for all the participants.
The 2007 Sports Explosion is hosted by Phoenix Women’s Sports Association, Maricopa Council on Youth Sports and Physical Activityy, Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department and Healthier Phoenix Initiative Ad Hoc Committee that promotes good health in the community. | | | |
