Skiing in Arizona?

You can ski in Arizona.

Although Arizona is known as the Sunshine State there are places just a few hours from Phoenix to satisfy your need to ski. If you want to hit the slopes, the following mountains make the perfect day trip for a weekend ski getaway.

Arizona Snowbowl, the best known ski area is only two to three hours from Phoenix and has five ski lifts and an elevation of 11,500 feet. The longest run is two miles in length and there are 32 runs for all level of skiers and riders.

Flagstaff Nordic Center is located in Coconino National Forest and is a gem for those who love cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Sunrise Park Resort is the largest ski resort in Arizona and is located in McNary. This resort is owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe. There are eight lifts and over 13 miles of cross country trail.

Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley is located in Tucson and the ski resort is located in the Catalina Mountains and is the southernmost ski resort in the United States.  It has one ski lift and eighteen ski trails.

Elk Ridge Ski Area is Arizona's family ski resort and is focused on beginner and intermediate skiers and riders.  It has two lifts and seven trails for lots of snowy fun.
