What's the weather like in Phoenix, AZ in January?

Phoenix, AZ weather in the winter season.

70 degrees, a cloudy sky, dry air, and a slight breeze seem like the perfect weather to start the 2008 year in Phoenix, AZ.

"70 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade and more in the sun is like paradise" This is what i heard from some visitors to the Phoenix valley who came from the cold North East, while sitting at a cafe in the Biltmore neighborhood soaking in the sun and lazying about.

Its gets cold here too.  Many plants froze last year, including a very expensive ficus tree which I just planted 8 months before.  In the mornings some warm clothing is mandatory.  2 days ago we had freeze warnings from 3am to 9am.  But, in the day time, like today, it's shorts, a short sleeve shirt and a margarita.

The winter season is why Phoenicians tolerate the miserable summers.  But, just like the winters else where the summer is the down season, especially during the monsoon.  Let's not think about the summer, though, the perfect winter weather is here and it needs to be enjoyed.
