While North Scottsdale is new properties, mountains like Pinnacle Peak, McDowell Mountains, Golfing and events; South Scottsdale is, clubs, restaurant, lofts and condos, historic neighborhoods. Central Scottsdale is in between. It's an area with a variety of homes from ranch, horse properties, luxury condos, contemporary new homes, lake front homes and golf course townhouses.
Central Scottsdale is bordered by Phoenix in the West, the reservation on the East, Chaparral Road in the South and more or less the Central Arizona Project Canal in the North which runs along Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. The Scottsdale Air-park is an economic monster in the North with so much financial power. It's a major employment center with shopping and restaurants surrounding it for several miles. By going south you will see less retail and more access gates to enclosed communities you enter with a code. Some of the more know communities in Central Scottsdale are: - Gainey Ranch and exclusive golf community.
- Scottsdale Ranch is a lake community with home and condominiums.
- McCormick Ranch, a huge master planned community with mature homes, lakes, a golf course and lots of greenery.
There are a lot of great beautiful neighborhoods in Central Scottsdale. Because this part of Scottsdale has some history, there are tree canopy covered streets, large beautiful horse properties; there is a feeling here, unique in the valley; established, clean, maintained, and quiet is Central Scottsdale. It’s all that but its close to its party sibling, South Scottsdale where you will find all the fun you need.

There really is no easy way to get to the airport, downtown Phoenix or anywhere in the central Phoenix valley because there are no freeways, so you’ll have to take the larger roads. Taking 101 to the airport is just not worth it because you’ll add many miles to your trip. None the less there are plenty of roads and traffic never gets to a point. I haven’t met a person yet who complained about living in Central Scottsdale. There must be some, its not utopia but it is a great place to live.
