| | | | Arcadia Phoenix Homes, Condos, Location, Architecture. | Arcadia is a beautiful neighborhood at the southern foot of Camelback Mountain in the Phoenix East Village, with a fairly long history dating back to the early 1920’s when it was subdivided and sold as large 5 acre lots. Lush green manicured lawns, large oleander hedges, huge mature trees, palms, and a scent of orange blossoms in the air in the spring all create a unique climate in the desert. Camelback Mountain looms over the neighborhood with its eternal beauty.
The boundaries or Arcadia are not clear. They are believed to be the Scottsdale border to the East, Camelback Rd. to the North, Thomas on the South and 32nd St. to the West. 44th St. is the major artery of Arcadia.
Arcadia is still filled with postwar ranch homes on large 1 plus acre lots. This is the Arcadia trademark. Many of these ranch homes, though now old, are quite beautiful, especially when they have been well cared for as most are. The trend in Arcadia is to buy these ranch homes, tear them down and build new mansions of huge proportions in many architectural styles from contemporary to Santa Barbara to French chateau style homes of varying degrees of aesthetic. These new homes are beautiful and lend themselves well to this neighborhood, while some homes, especially the Tuscan minimalist style tends to look out of place. Houses are spaced far apart and even distinct styles meld them selves well into the landscape.
