Upper Dreamy Draw | North Foothills of the Phoenix Mountains

The neighborhoods, homes and real estate of Phoenix Mountains Preserve north side.

The North Foothills of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve is just as it sounds; a gateway to the Phoenix Mountains.  Residents have everyday beautiful mountain views while those closer to the preserve see, often spectacular, panoramas of the North East Phoenix valley reaching into North Scottsdale and Cave Creek.

This article focuses on the western half of the North Foothill; I wrote about the North East Foothills last week.

You'll find quiet neighborhood here, devoid of major traffic except for the I-51 which cuts the area in half and provides a major transportation artery for the residents.  In fact, the I-51 allows access to downtown in just 15 minutes, the airport in about 20 minutes; it opens up the once very secluded area.

In this area the variety of sub-neighborhoods and home types increases as does the density.  There is no homogeneity in architecture here.  You'll find, Paradise Gardens, one of the only full mid-century modern subdivision designed by Al Beadle.  Then close to the mountains are custom homes. Some are huge and their only company is the preserve.

Christy Cove Neighborhood in Phoenix

A mixture of new contemporary homes, ranch homes and anything in between can be seen here and of different ages from the 50's to completely new homes.

If you drive the neighborhoods you'll see that overall the residents care for the home and many have individualized them; there are no cookie cuter homes here.

Some of the sub-neighborhoods include.

Prices range from the mid 300's up to several million.  Telling you a median price would not explain anything because of the variety of homes here.  The best way to see them is to either drive the neighborhood or view photos and listing area listed above.

Some of the greatest benefits of this area and what make it different are:

  • The variety of home styles available.
  • Unique subdivisions.
  • Access to the Phoenix Mountain Preserve.
  • Quite and low traffic.
  • Established neighborhoods.

Below is a map of the North Foothills area with some of the active homes on the market.
