Good dining and food in Phoenix at the Farm

There are so many places to eat in Phoenix and Scottsdale that it's often difficult to choose something or more often the dining experience leaves you wanting more. Dining is not only about food, it's the entire experience but food, at least on my list, is at the top. I'm also very picky about food, but I can't claim to be a food critic. Of the many restaurants that I have visited Quiessence has the best food. I don't eat meat, but the fish dishes are simply perfect. The portions are just right allowing one to enjoy several courses and desert. A careful selection of ingredients makes up dishes that often have unique, at least for the Valley, flavours; I have not had any dishes before this in the Valley that included radishes, a vegetable often left on the sidelines and forgotten. Quiessence, per the flyer "the dirt from the Farm", "...is in a quirky historic farmhouse at the end of the lane of The Farm, concealed behind a walled garden and accessed by a crooked flagstone path." Another nice thinks is that the menu changes often and I call that an invitation hard to resist. They say,"If a local grower doesn't have asparagus, (Chef) LaPrad will change the menu to use whatever that grower does have to offer." Here the ambiance and food are superb, just be careful as we have been forgotten for too long at times by busy waiters. But that is my only quibble. That brings me to the desert. Anne Marie Blanco is responsible for the superb deserts. These are true deserts that allow you to feel the structure, the texture and the subtle flavours of the ingredients. my favourite is the bread puddings. Each time I think of that desert I want to make another reservation. Joanna, had a ricotta orange custard with grapefruit slices; a perfect desert especially with the right wine.
