The elevation of Camelback Mountain is 2,704 feet.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Barry Goldwater spearheaded an effort to preserve Camelback mountain form development.&amp;nbsp; Until the mid 1960's it was mostly in private hands.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;p&gt;Though nestled in the middle of one of the largest metropolitan cities in the U.S.A, the Echo Canyon Recreation Area is preserved.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;There are no large animals but you can see many small animals like rabbits, snakes, lizards, rattle snakes and a variety of birds.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;Plant species include the pincushion, jumping cholla, staghorn prickly pear cactoir, palo verde, mesquite and ironwood trees along with many more quiet enjoyable plants.&amp;nbsp; It's a real pleasure to hike Camelback Mountain after a rain; the fragrant desert smell, a mixture of desert plants and the wed dust is very unique and alluring.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Email us and we can email back a map of the hiking trails&amp;nbsp;on Camelback Mountain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</Description>
